Objective
If you're in Mumbai and thinking about a Shirdi trip but don't want to sort out the logistics yourself, this one's for you. It breaks down what a Shirdi tour package from Mumbai with hotel and transport looks like, how the drive works, and what you should expect to pay. Everything here comes from real trips run by Balaji Travels, a best travel agency in India.
Mumbai to Shirdi is roughly 250 km, about 5 to 6 hours by road.
A proper tour package bundles your vehicle, hotel, and darshan scheduling into one booking.
The Sai Baba Temple sees around 60,000 visitors daily, so having logistics sorted in advance saves hours.
Packages come as one-day, overnight, and two-night options.
October to March is the most comfortable window, though Shirdi stays busy year-round.
Shirdi sits in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, and for anyone in Mumbai, it's one of the easiest pilgrimage trips to do over a weekend. Shirdi Sai Baba Temple welcomed over 8 lakh devotees during the 9-day Christmas-New Year festival (Dec 25, 2025-Jan 2, 2026), generating ₹23.29 crore in donations. That gives you an idea of the crowds. Getting Sai Baba Darshan without a plan means standing in queues for hours, scrambling for a decent hotel, and hoping your driver shows up on time. Or you book a package and all of that is already done before you leave home.
Here's what a good package should cover:
You get a private car or tempo traveller based on how many people are travelling. The route goes via the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway and NH 160, and the drive is 5 to 6 hours on a good day. Most operators pick you up from your doorstep in Mumbai and drop you back the same way.
Packages typically include one or two nights near the temple complex. Budget options get you clean, basic rooms. Mid-range includes AC rooms with breakfast. Premium packages offer 3-star or 4-star stays with meals.
This is where a package earns its value. Queues at the Sai Baba Temple can stretch to several hours on busy days. A good operator helps with VIP darshan passes (₹200 online) and times your visit to avoid the worst crowds.
Many packages include visits to Shani Shingnapur (about 65 km from Shirdi), or nearby Nashik and Trimbakeshwar for travellers who want to extend the trip.
One-day or overnight? A one-day package works if you just want darshan, but it means leaving at 4 AM and returning late. Overnight gives you breathing room.
Group size matters. Couples do well with sedan packages. Groups of 10 or more should look at tempo traveller options to bring the per-person cost down.
Check the hotel location. Walking distance to the temple saves time and auto fares. Some budget packages put you 3 to 4 km away.
Ask about meals. Some packages include breakfast and dinner, others don't. The temple's free Prasadalaya serves thousands daily, but know what your package covers.
Read the cancellation policy. Make sure you can reschedule without losing your full payment.
There's no bad time, really. Shirdi is packed all year. But if you want to actually enjoy the trip without sweating through your clothes, go between October and March. The weather is cooler, the humidity drops, and weekday crowds are much easier to deal with.
One thing though: if you're visiting during Guru Purnima or Dussehra, be ready. The temple sees 2 to 3 lakh visitors a day during those festivals. Great energy, but long queues even with VIP passes.
Temple hours are 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
No photography inside the main Samadhi Mandir.
Bags and electronics go in the cloakroom. Travel light.
Dress modestly. Respectful clothing is expected.
Honestly, the Mumbai to Shirdi route isn't complicated. But doing it comfortably is a different thing. We've done this trip hundreds of times and we've figured out what matters.
We pick you up from wherever you are in Mumbai. No bus stands, no meeting points. Our cars are clean, AC works, and the drivers know every stop between here and Shirdi. The hotels we use are ones we've stayed at ourselves, so we know what the rooms actually look like. And we sort out the VIP darshan passes and timing so you're not standing in a three-hour queue after a five-hour drive.
Roughly 5 to 6 hours. You go via the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway. If you're leaving Mumbai during rush hour, add another 30 to 45 minutes.
Technically yes, but you'll be exhausted. It means a 4 AM start and getting home around 10 or 11 PM. We'd say stay one night if you can.
For a one-night trip, budget packages run ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per person. Private packages with nicer hotels go up to ₹8,000 to ₹12,000. Depends on your group size and what you want. Drop us a message for exact numbers.
Very. The temple trust runs tight security with CCTV everywhere and separate queues for women and elderly visitors. We send solo travellers there regularly without any concerns.
Yes, and a lot of our travellers do. It adds one extra day to the trip. Worth it if you've got the time.
Shirdi is one of those places people visit once and keep going back to. The temple, the energy, the Prasadalaya feeding thousands every day. When the logistics are handled properly, you get to experience all of it without the stress.
